Building on our long-standing presence in the area, Interstates officially established our Cincinnati, OH office in November 2021, further expanding our reach and capabilities in western Ohio. This strategic location was chosen for its alignment with Interstates’ core industries—agriculture, food & beverage, data centers, consumer packaged goods, and manufacturing—and the abundance of opportunities in the area.

“We recognized the potential of this region early on,” says Brett Reimer, Ohio Regional Manager. “The proximity to many of our existing and potential clients, combined with a rapidly growing market, made Cincinnati an ideal choice for our next regional office.”

A Thoughtful Beginning

The journey to establishing the Cincinnati, OH office began with research into the area’s potential in late 2021. Interstates already had an existing presence in the area since 2011, where we had team members supporting key clients with our engineering and automation services. Leveraging these resources allowed Interstates to launch operations efficiently while maintaining our high standards. “Our existing office space and strong client relationships gave us a head start,” says Dave Taylor, Regional Operations Director. “With Brett’s leadership and the support of our teams, we’ve been able to grow quickly and effectively serve our clients.” Hiring the right talent was another critical step. “We focused on building a team with the right skill sets and cultural alignment to ensure we could meet our clients’ needs and maintain the Interstates standard of quality,” Reimer adds.

Success in Core Markets

The Cincinnati, OH office is equipped to support clients across several core markets, including agriculture and food & beverage. The region’s density of clients in these industries has enabled the team to take on a variety of impactful projects. One standout example was a project in the pet food industry. “Our team successfully upgraded wireless access points across multiple facilities, a project that was highly praised by the client,” says Reimer. “They described it as the smoothest upgrade they’ve ever experienced.” The Ohio team has also made significant inroads into the data center market, collaborating with national teams to provide tailored solutions. “Our ability to execute both large and small projects locally has allowed us to deliver exceptional value to clients,” Taylor says.

Focus on Safety and Quality

Interstates’ unwavering commitment to safety and quality has been a defining factor in its success in Cincinnati. “We’ve been recognized as a safety leader on multiple job sites,” Reimer notes. “Clients have consistently praised our team’s focus on doing things right the first time.” Chad Patch, affectionately referred to as the Cincinnati, OH office’s ‘culture warrior,’ has played a key role in instilling these values in the field. “Chad ensures that our teams prioritize safety and quality in every aspect of their work,” Taylor says. “This approach sets us apart
from many competitors.”

Growth and Future Plans

Since opening, the Cincinnati, OH office has grown to include 15 field employees and three office staff capable of executing projects up to $2 million. This growth reflects the team’s dedication and the strong demand in the region. “We’ve built a foundation that allows us to tackle multiple projects simultaneously,” says Reimer. “Our leaders and teams are equipped to handle everything from small upgrades to complex installations.” Looking ahead, the office aims to expand to 25 field employees and five office staff by the end of 2026. “Our focus remains on building strong relationships with current and potential clients,” Reimer says. “By continuing to deliver value and demonstrate expertise, we’re confident in our ability to grow.”

Building Relationships

The Ohio team has also been intentional about fostering connections in the community. “Partnering with local technical schools and expanding our client network has been pivotal,” Taylor says. “We’re also working closely with business development to identify and engage new clients in the food & beverage industry.” As Interstates continues to grow its Cincinnati presence, the office remains committed to delivering the innovative solutions and exceptional service that clients have come to expect. “We’re excited about the future,” Reimer says. “This region is full of opportunity, and we’re proud to be part of its growth.”
